TR-YÖS

According to the decisions taken at the meeting of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), held on June 23, 2021, it was announced that the decision to implement the Foreign Student Exam (YÖS), which is organized annually by universities, as a centralized exam under the scope of ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center), was given. However, the decision previously taken regarding the Central Foreign Student Entrance Exam (CFE) has been canceled.

Instead, it was decided to conduct the “Turkey Foreign Student Admission Exam (TR-YÖS)”. The Turkish Foreign Student Admission Exam (TR-YÖS), which will be organized by ÖSYM for the first time, is planned to be held in January 2023. The results of the Turkish Foreign Student Entrance Exam (TR-YÖS) will be recommended to higher education institutions by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).

One of the important changes made with the new exam system is that only the score obtained from the YÖS exam will be valid for admission to the fields of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Law, Teaching, and Engineering specialties. Thus, for prospective students to study in these fields at both state and private universities in Turkey, it will be sufficient for them to only participate in the TR-YÖS exam. Additionally, the entrance scores for these specialties will be determined by YÖK.
